This will require a slight change in procedure, but should increase the efficiency of our responses. >From 6 April 1999, all email to the hostmaster mailbox will need to include a valid account name in the subject line. Email without this information will automatically be responded to with a message detailing the new requirements. Please note, your account name is not the same as the actual name of your organisation. Account names are assigned by APNIC when applications are processed and are of the format XXXXX-YY (where XXXXX is based on the name of the member and YY is the country code). If you are unsure of your exact account name, please contact . This filter will initially apply only to the hostmaster mailbox. General enquiries may still be made to other APNIC mailboxes (see for more details). Many members already include this information in the subject line of their email. For those of you who do not, we appreciate your cooperation in amending your practice. If you have any questions or comments about this issue, please feel free to contact us. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + APNIC Secretariat Tel: +61-7-3367-0490 Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) Ltd Fax: +61-7-3367-0482 Level 1, 33 Park Road, PO Box 2131, Milton, QLD 4064, Australia + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + * APNIC-ANNOUNCE: Announcements concerning APNIC * * To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe" to apnic-announce-request@apnic.net * From owner-apnic-announce@ns.apnic.net Fri Mar 26 01:49:04 1999 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) id BAA24841; Fri, 26 Mar 1999 01:42:16 GMT Received: from gateway.staff.apnic.net (guardian.apnic.net [203.37.255.100]) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id BAA24830 for ; Fri, 26 Mar 1999 01:42:12 GMT Received: (from mail@localhost) by gateway.staff.apnic.net (8.8.7/SCO5) id LAA01873 for ; Fri, 26 Mar 1999 11:42:11 +1000 (EST) Received: from hadrian.staff.apnic.net(192.168.1.1) by gateway.staff.apnic.net via smap (V2.1) id xma001869; Fri, 26 Mar 99 11:41:41 +1000 Received: (from paulg@localhost) by hadrian.staff.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) id BAA28709 for apnic-announce@lists.apnic.net; Fri, 26 Mar 1999 01:41:41 GMT Received: from topgun.asiapac.net ([202.188.0.106]) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id QAA00949; Thu, 25 Mar 1999 16:14:07 GMT Received: from tommi.tm.net.my ([202.188.0.73]) by topgun.asiapac.net (Netscape Messaging Server 3.52) with SMTP id AAA66F6; Fri, 26 Mar 1999 00:08:00 +0800 Message-Id: <3.0.3.32.19990326000145.03110268@pop.tm.net.my> X-Sender: tommi@pop.tm.net.my X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Pro Version 3.0.3 (32) Date: Fri, 26 Mar 1999 00:01:45 +0800 To: members@apnic.net, apnic-announce@apnic.net From: Tommi Subject: [apnic-announce] Announcement - results of elections Cc: executive-council@apnic.net Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-apnic-announce@apnic.net Precedence: bulk Reply-To: apnic-talk@apnic.net [Note "reply-to:" field] Members As the new Chair of the APNIC Executive Council I like to welcome the new (and some not so new) members. For the general membership of APNIC, some background. At the recent APNIC meeting in Singapore, elections for EC positions were held. At the APNIC Members' Meeting on 6 March 1999, the APNIC Executive Council was expanded from five members to seven, with the election of two members to fill outgoing positions and two members for the newly created positions. Following were elected: Che-Hoo Cheng (Hong Kong) Tommi Chen (Malaysia) Geoff Huston (Australia) Xing Li (China) Oh Kwang Sok (S. Korea) Toru Takahashi (Japan) Kuo-Wei Wu (Taiwan) The weeks following the S'pore APNIC meeting, elections for the position of Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary were held. Toru Takahashi stepped down as Chair of EC and stated he was not seeking re-election as Chair. Following were then elected: Chair Tommi Chen Treasurer Toru Takahashi Secretary Che-Hoo Cheng I like to thank Toru for his role as Chair and the last EC members for their good work. I like the new EC to continue the work of the last EC and following the Singapore members meeting, to take up some issues raised by members. Thanks for all the member contributions during that meeting. Besides the day-to-day issues of APNIC membership (of which the growth of Internet users resulting in higher IP address request is one issue), 1999 would be challenging with the impact of ICANN/ASO and the use of IPv6. I hope you'll give us your full support. Thanks all. tommi chen * APNIC-ANNOUNCE: Announcements concerning APNIC * * To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe" to apnic-announce-request@apnic.net * From owner-apnic-announce@ns.apnic.net Sun Mar 28 23:53:16 1999 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) id XAA18702; Sun, 28 Mar 1999 23:46:37 GMT Received: from gateway.staff.apnic.net (guardian.apnic.net [203.37.255.100]) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id XAA18698 for ; Sun, 28 Mar 1999 23:46:36 GMT Received: (from mail@localhost) by gateway.staff.apnic.net (8.8.7/SCO5) id JAA16741 for ; Mon, 29 Mar 1999 09:46:35 +1000 (EST) Received: from hadrian.staff.apnic.net(192.168.1.1) by gateway.staff.apnic.net via smap (V2.1) id xma016735; Mon, 29 Mar 99 09:46:34 +1000 Received: from localhost (anne@localhost) by hadrian.staff.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with SMTP id XAA17092 for ; Sun, 28 Mar 1999 23:46:29 GMT Date: Mon, 29 Mar 1999 09:46:29 +1000 (EST) From: Anne Lord X-Sender: anne@hadrian To: apnic-announce@ns.apnic.net Subject: [apnic-announce] APNIC Training Course Slides Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-apnic-announce@apnic.net Precedence: bulk Reply-To: apnic-talk@apnic.net [Note "reply-to:" field] The slides of the APNIC training course given at APRICOT '99 in Singapore are now on the APNIC web site at: http://www.apnic.net/training/lir-course/index.htm and at: http://ftp.apnic.net/apnic/training/lir-course-020399.PPT thanks, Anne Lord APNIC -- * APNIC-ANNOUNCE: Announcements concerning APNIC * * To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe" to apnic-announce-request@apnic.net * From owner-apnic-announce@ns.apnic.net Wed Mar 31 00:02:42 1999 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) id XAA19168; Tue, 30 Mar 1999 23:55:08 GMT Received: from gateway.staff.apnic.net (guardian.apnic.net [203.37.255.100]) by ns.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with ESMTP id XAA19164 for ; Tue, 30 Mar 1999 23:55:06 GMT Received: (from mail@localhost) by gateway.staff.apnic.net (8.8.7/SCO5) id JAA11616 for ; Wed, 31 Mar 1999 09:55:06 +1000 (EST) Received: from hadrian.staff.apnic.net(192.168.1.1) by gateway.staff.apnic.net via smap (V2.1) id xma011614; Wed, 31 Mar 99 09:55:02 +1000 Received: from gerard (wrk-2.staff.apnic.net [192.168.1.65]) by hadrian.staff.apnic.net (8.9.1a/8.9.1) with SMTP id XAA22032 for ; Tue, 30 Mar 1999 23:55:01 GMT Message-ID: <001101be7b09$2786cb60$4101a8c0@staff.apnic.net> From: "Gerard Ross" To: Subject: [apnic-announce] Call for Comments: Draft policy document Date: Wed, 31 Mar 1999 09:46:37 +1000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2014.211 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2014.211 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-apnic-announce@apnic.net Precedence: bulk Reply-To: apnic-talk@apnic.net Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit [Note "reply-to:" field] ******************************************************* CALL FOR FURTHER COMMENTS - Deadline Friday 14 May 1999 ******************************************************* On 5 February 1999, APNIC released the first draft of the document "Policies for Address Space Management in the Asia Pacific Region" and called for comments and suggestions from the membership and the broader Internet Community. In response, APNIC received many useful and well-considered comments, which were taken into account when revising the original draft. APNIC thanks all those who have contributed to this process. A second draft of the document is now available, along with a table summarising the comments received from the first draft. Links to all of these documents are at . APNIC again invites comments, suggestions, and questions on this important document, which aims to set out a clear and consistent framework of policies for allocations and assignments of address space in the Asia Pacific region. In order to allow organisations to thoroughly consider how the proposed policies would affect their businesses and, where necessary, prepare translations of the document, APNIC has set a deadline of Friday 14 May 1999 for responses. On the basis of comments received, a third draft will be prepared and made public, with the intention of seeking membership consensus. Once consensus has been reached, APNIC will implement the policy document and commence a review of all of its other documents to ensure a consistent operational framework. ABOUT THE DRAFT DOCUMENT The draft document "Policies for Address Space Management in the Asia Pacific Region" represents current APNIC practices and policies, which have not previously been codified in a single document. Public address space is a resource belonging to whole Internet community and, therefore, its management involves implementing policies which achieve the best possible balance of the needs of all those who use it. APNIC encourages you, as a member of the Asia Pacific Internet community, to read this document and consider its implications. We invite you to make any comments you feel would be constructive to the development of a subsequent draft. Please note that this document does not seek to set out detailed policies in relation to membership of APNIC or issues specific to confederations. However, APNIC does intend that this document will provide a foundation upon which other, more specific, documents can be based. Please address your comments to the mailing list (subscribe via majordomo@apnic.net>). If, however, you would like to make comments privately, please email Paul Wilson, Director General of APNIC at . + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + APNIC Secretariat Tel: +61-7-3367-0490 Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) Ltd Fax: +61-7-3367-0482 Level 1, 33 Park Road, PO Box 2131, Milton, QLD 4064, Australia + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + * APNIC-ANNOUNCE: Announcements concerning APNIC * * To unsubscribe, send "unsubscribe" to apnic-announce-request@apnic.net *
